Changsha county grows steadily in 2017

Changsha county's GDP recorded a year-on-year increase of 11.3 percent at 143.11 billion yuan ($22.86 billion) in 2017, marking the highest growth during the past six years, according to the data released by the statistics bureau of Changsha county.

In addition to maintaining its two-digit growth in GDP, the county made it to the sixth place on the list of China's Top 100 counties in economic competitiveness and comprehensive strength.

Benefiting from supply-side structural reform and polices to motivate real economy, the county experienced a positive development in its industries, completing an industrial output value of 294.44 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.8 percent.

Among them, the added value of industries above a designated scale rose by 13.2 percent year-on-year, registering 53.16 billion yuan.

The county's service industry accounted for 30.5 percent of its GDP, and in the recent years it has been stepping up efforts for industry transformation and upgrading.

The growing share of fixed-asset investment also significantly contributes to the growth of local economies. In 2017, Changsha county marked fixed investments worth 95.59 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.2 percent.

A number of 70 major projects, such as China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Co's rail transit equipment manufacturing industrial park, signed to settle down in the region, with the total investment reaching 60 billion yuan.

The per capita disposable income of residents in Changsha county reached 37,000 yuan at the end of 2017, an increase of 8.9 percent compared to the same period of last year.

The simultaneous growth of people's wallets indicated an increase in people's sense of happiness, proved by being honored as one of China's top 10 happiest counties. An announcement was made at the China Happiest City Forum held in Beijing on Dec 7, 2017.

This also signifies that Changsha county has geared itself to adapt to its new normal, featuring steady and robust growth in economic aggregate, improved development quality, while it has entered a new stage for its economic and social development, reported.
