Changsha county ranks 3rd in top 100 county-level cities

Changsha county in Central China's Hunan province has once again proved itself as one of China's most economically competitive counties.

The city ranked third on the list of Top 100 County-level Cities in China in terms of comprehensive economic strength and sixth in fundamental competitiveness, according to a survey released by the Zhongjun Research Institute, an economic think tank, on Dec 16.

The report made a comprehensive evaluation of a city's economic development, environment and investment potential.

Changsha county is the only county to win by a clean sweep of the top six earning A+ in three indicators of economy, investment and consumption growth rates.

Since 2014, Changsha county has been ranked in the top 10 of the list, surpassing Yiwu in Zhejiang province in 2015 as the eighth and overtaking Cixi in Zhejiang province in 2016 as the seventh.

In recent years, Changsha has attached great importance to balanced development between regions and explore its distinctive advantages to develop itself as a pioneer among its peers across Central and West China.

From January to October this year, the central Chinese county earned a total industrial output value of 241.58 billion yuan ($36.52 billion), up 11.4 percent compared with the last year. The volume of fixed-asset investments earned more than 90.25 billion yuan, 16.7 percent higher than last year. The city yielded total retail sales of consumer goods worth 38.04 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.5 percent.

Following Jiangyin in Jiangsu province and Jinjiang in Fujian province, Changsha county reveals a sustainable competitiveness, according to the evaluation criterion, in aspects of regional environment, the common wealth of local people and positive development trend.
