Vast vineyards covering an area of more than 7,000 mu (467 hectares) in Changsha, welcomes tourists to enjoy picking grapes.

According to Liu Biaojun, the manager of Shengyuan grape planting base, the vineyard will be ready to receive guests from July 29, and harvested grapes will be on sale about half a month later. Although the ripening time has delayed because of floods and more rainfall this year, he says, recent sunshine offers favourable conditions for the grapes to ripen. Liu estimates that their vines can yield 2,400 kilogram per mu (0.07 hectares). Considering the current market price of 30 yuan per kilogram, the harvest can bring great benefits.

Vineyards in Changsha have formed a mature industrial chain from the field to the market. Large plantations, like Shengyuan in Jintuo Village, Qixin in Qingshanpu Town, and Tang Brother in Jinjing Town, have tourist grape picking activities that boost local tourism.
