Changsha to be production base of Rethink robots
Hunan Cothink Robotics Technology Co Ltd reached agreements with Rethink Robotics and Changsha municipal government on Feb 28 to introduce world-leading collaborative robotics technology and make Changsha the first production base of Rethink robots in China.
Rethink Robotics is a forerunner in collaborative robotics field, based in Boston, the United States. During the strategic cooperation conference held in the provincial capital on Sunday, two intelligent robots created by the US robotics developer made interactions with guests at the conference and showed scenario applications such as pouring water and wearing hats.
According to the conference, the first robot will be put into production around this May. Zhang Bo, professor from Tsinghua University and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences believes that the cooperation brings a brand new pattern for country's robotics industry.
Yang Xinming, chairman of the Hunan Cothink Robotics says, "It will help boost the application of collaborative robotics in China's industry sector, especially amid the nation's 'Made in China 2025' action plan."
According to Yang, the major characteristics of Rethink robots compared with traditional ones are high-level safety – they have basic knowledge of behavior and can work interactively with human without segregation.
